Portland, Maine-based Industrial Automation Supply (IAS) distributes electrical components, from power supplies to breakout boards, to companies throughout New England.
Pain Points
Prior to this, management of the IAS warehouse was entirely manual, requiring operators to search for items on shelves throughout the warehouse. They often use ladders to reach the top shelves, which increases the risk of accidents during the process. As inventory levels increased, the current warehouse became too crowded, and the company had to consider investing in moving to a larger facility.
Solution
With the installation of the Modula automated stereoscopic containers, all the company’s warehousing problems were solved. The distributor is able to store 85% of its products on a floor space of only 8.9㎡. Not only were they able to consolidate warehousing to fit their space, they also improved their picking speed and accuracy and can continue to grow without disruption.
