Pain Points
At Kuehne + Nagel’s Paris warehouse, manually picking 86,000 SKUs delayed operations and strained teams, risking both deadlines and well-being.
The slow, inefficient process also took a physical toll on operators, affecting both performance and well-being.
Solution
To solve these issues, Kuehne + Nagel installed two Modula ML25D vertical lift modules (VLMs) with features that optimised operations with:
- Put-to-light system and LED bars for faster, more accurate picking
- Double external bays to handle up to 40 orders at once
- Integration with Modula Premium software for advanced order management
The results were immediate and operators gained:
- Doubled productivity to 600 orders per day
- Reduced storage from 2,296 sq. ft. to just 131.2 sq. ft.
- Less physical strain, while meeting tight daily deadlines
