Conad Transforms Distribution Centre Storage With Modula VLM

We needed to scale the operations without expanding the physical warehouse footprint, which still relied on a traditional shelving system

Location:

Italy

Background

Conad, one of Italy’s leading supermarket chains, is modernizing its logistics with Modula VLM at its Nord Ovest distribution center to increase storage efficiency in the northwest Italy and Sardinia regions.

Pain Points

Conad Nord Ovest needed to expand operations without expanding the footprint of its physical warehouse, which still relied on traditional racking systems.
Their goal is to increase productivity, reduce picking errors, and reduce operator workload while supporting growth.
The solution also needed to integrate seamlessly with existing operational systems.

Solution

Conad installed 15 Modula Lift ML50Ds, each over 36 feet tall, allowing 35 percent of the inventory to be stored in just 5 percent of the warehouse space.

Project results include:

  • Efficiently handles 4,000 packages per day for 50 stores
  • Achieve precise picking and zero picking errors
  • WMS seamlessly integrates with existing software to achieve unified operations
