Background
Ningbo Baolan Logistics Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. With nearly two decades of experience in the logistics equipment industry, the company provides innovative smart logistics solutions and services to customers nationwide, specializing in the storage and supply of forklift and automation equipment accessories.
Pain Points
- Prior to the Modula solution, Baolan Logistics’ warehouse used traditional open shelving and faced the following challenges:
- High variety, low quantity: Nearly 5,000 types of parts, each with only 1-2 pieces, making management difficult with traditional shelving.
- Large footprint: The warehouse covered nearly 100 square meters, resulting in low space utilization.
- Difficult material management: Open shelving allowed dust to accumulate and parts to become obsolete, with no guarantee of FIFO.
- Inaccurate inventory: Occasional discrepancies between physical counts and system records led to high management costs.
- High labor costs: Two employees were required to complete daily warehouse management tasks.
Solution
Baolan Logistics sought a warehousing solution that could Recover Space, improve material management, and enhance inventory control. The company ultimately purchased a Modula Lift with double delivery internal bay for storing aftermarket maintenance parts.
Before using the Modula VLM, the warehouse covered nearly 100 square meters. Now, with a footprint of only 12 square meters, the VLM stores 90% of the company’s total materials.
The original warehouse required two employees to complete all tasks. With the Modula VLM, only one employee is now needed to handle all warehouse operations.
Baolan Logistics equipped the VLM with laser pointers, LED bin indication systems, and visual assistance devices, significantly improving picking speed and accuracy. Operators simply follow the indicators to quickly locate the required materials in the trays.
