Manifattura Guarnizioni Colombo & C., founded in 1911, is a long-established Italian company that produces gaskets and sealing systems for industrial machines and factories. Known to industry insiders as “COLOMBO”, the company has long been regarded as a highly professional reference by technicians, engineers and skilled maintenance personnel.
It serves a wide range of industries including shipbuilding, food, steel, oil and gas and renewable energy, among others.
Pain Points
With the large number of gaskets and seals in inventory, the company needed a more efficient way to store inventory while optimizing warehouse operations. Traditional racking systems take up too much space, are inefficient, and are prone to picking errors.
Solution
In 2014 3 Modula Lift MX50D units with external bay, 5,300 mm high, were installed in the goods reception area. They are used mainly for storing components. In 2017, In 2017, another 13 Modula Sintes1.7 units 4,300 mm high were added to manage finished product for picking 200 KG at the time of final customer order preparation. With Modula the warehouse’s status is available in real time, optimising reorders to the benefit of the entire production flow.
