Sunny in Belgium is part of the duty-free group Sunny Europe, a duty-free retail group located in the heart of Antwerp, Belgium, with a flagship store 1,600㎡ and a warehouse of 5,000㎡.
Sunny Europe Group provides supplies to duty-free shops in Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands. They receive all kinds of duty-free shop goods from manufacturers, such as cigarettes, clothes, watches, jewelry, drinks, food, perfume, etc., and then distribute the goods to retail stores.
Pain Points
Commodities are diversified, order management is complex, and warehouse workflow is cumbersome.
Due to the variety of goods in duty-free shops, Sunny needs to receive and distribute goods of different types, sizes, and values, and the operation is very complicated. With the development of business, manual storage method has been difficult to meet the company’s operational needs.
Solution
Sunny Company purchased 8 Modula VLMs with unit heights of 8 meters each for the warehouse to handle the receiving and delivery of goods. By connecting the Modula VLMs with the well-designed roller conveyor line and Modula WMS (Warehouse Management System), Sunny’s warehouse has gained a brand-new order processing system, which can efficiently manage various complex orders and improve the cumbersome workflow of the warehouse, optimise its picking operations, and greatly improve efficiency.
Products stored in Modula VLMs are now fully enclosed and protected, always in tidy condition. The products stored in the Modula VLMs have complete and detailed codes, and the picking operation becomes convenient, fast, and accurate. The operator can monitor the inventory level in real-time through Modula WMS, adjust production in time, process customer orders quickly and efficiently, and shorten delivery time.
The inventory that originally required a floor space of 500 square meters now only needs 43 square meters. A lot of warehouse space has been released. Without the need to purchase a new warehouse, the purpose of expanding the warehouse space has been achieved.
