Background
New-Fer Srl was founded in early 2000 with the goal of supplying peripheral companies, manufacturing companies and machine workshops with carefully selected high-quality spare parts products.
In 2018, in order to expand the scope of services and improve user experience, the company carried out strategic upgrades. They plan to plan physical sales areas and showrooms in the warehouse logistics center, and use Modula vertical lift modules to automate warehouse and sales area management to provide customers with more efficient logistics and faster delivery.
Pain Points
Before using Modula automated warehouses, all products were stored on shelves. When the operator receives an order, he must remember where the goods are stored and then push the cart to pick them one by one.
Traditional racking and manual picking methods result in long order preparation times, slow delivery speeds, and operators are unable to view the inventory status of goods in real time. Customers often have to wait a long time to receive their orders.
Solution
New-Fer purchased 4 Modula Slims and 2 Modula Lifts to expand storage capacity and automate warehouse management.
Now, the products are stored in Modula vertical lift bins and the operator simply confirms the pick order and waits at the bin for picking. Goods are brought to the operator at an ergonomic height, significantly reducing picking time.
In the past, New-Fer could only process 200 to 250 order lines per day. Now, with the same number of operators, 500 to 800 order lines can be processed per day.
Previously, whenever a customer came to the counter to inquire about a product, an operator had to go to the shelf to check the stock status. Using Modula vertical lift modules, operators can view up-to-date product inventory levels at any time. Customers do not need to wait at the counter and can take away the product immediately after placing their order.
